Summary

To address these challenges, Zen Networks designed and delivered a Proof of Concept for an AI SQL Agent capable of transforming natural-language questions into accurate, validated SQL queries. Instead of relying on developers to manually write complex SQL statements, business users can simply ask questions in plain language and receive reliable results within seconds.

The AI SQL Agent leverages a vectorized knowledge base containing database schemas, documented business logic, and real-world SQL queries. Combined with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), the solution understands both the technical database structure and the organization’s business rules, enabling secure, intelligent, and autonomous access to enterprise data.

Challenges

The institution faced several operational and technical obstacles that slowed access to business insights:

• Business users relied heavily on development teams to translate business questions into SQL queries, creating bottlenecks and increasing response times.
• Critical business logic, including customer segmentation, balance-sheet classifications, and predefined filters, was undocumented and known only by a limited number of experts.
• Even simple requests required lengthy SQL development involving multiple joins, nested conditions, and numerous business rules.
• Manual SQL development increased the risk of human error while limiting data accessibility for non-technical teams.
• As reporting needs expanded, the organization required a scalable solution capable of democratizing access to banking data without compromising governance or security.

This knowledge allows the AI SQL Agent to generate queries based on the organization’s actual data model rather than generic assumptions.

• RAG: The solution uses a RAG architecture that retrieves the most relevant database schemas and historical business queries before generating SQL. This significantly reduces hallucinations and ensures that the AI SQL Agent references only existing tables, columns, and business logic.
• Interactive Clarification:  When user requests are incomplete or ambiguous, the AI SQL Agent requests additional information instead of making assumptions, improving query accuracy and minimizing reporting errors.
• Secure AI Deployment: The platform is deployed locally on AWS Wavelength infrastructure in Morocco, ensuring low latency, regulatory compliance, and complete data sovereignty. Sensitive banking information never leaves the customer’s cloud environment. The Large Language Model (LLM) is accessed securely through APIs without exposing confidential business data.
• API Gateway: A secure API Gateway enables seamless integration between the AI SQL Agent and existing enterprise applications, analytics platforms, and business portals.
